Send text and links between your phone and computer
The link you found on your phone, the address in a message, a Wi-Fi password, a one-time code: getting a few words from a phone to a computer usually means emailing or messaging yourself. Clipboard sync only works inside one ecosystem, so it does not help between an iPhone and a Windows PC or an Android phone and a Mac. With tosstome you open the same web page on both devices and send the text directly.
Same Wi-Fi
- Open toss2.me in a browser on both devices. Each one appears in the other's Nearby list.
- On the device that has the text, tap the other device.
- Type or paste into Or send a message, then press Send message. On a computer, Ctrl+Enter or Cmd+Enter also sends.
- On the other device, press Accept. The text appears with a Copy button, and links in it can be opened with a click.
On a computer you can also drag selected text from another window onto a device in the Nearby list.
Different networks
Press Create a code on one device and type the 6 digits on the other. The two devices then see each other, and you send text the same way as on the same Wi-Fi. More about codes.
To a computer you use every day
Run tosstome listen on the computer (Node.js 22 or newer) and open the inbox link it prints on your phone. The inbox page has a message box next to the file picker, so you can send text, files, or both. The computer prints each message in the terminal and also saves it as a .txt file in the inbox folder. Command line reference.
From a terminal, send text to an inbox with:
tosstome send --text "https://example.com/build/42" --to "INBOX_LINK"
git log -1 | tosstome send --text - --to "INBOX_LINK"
From an AI agent
With tosstome mcp, a coding agent can send you a link, a command or a short summary on your phone, and read text you send to its inbox.
Things to know
- A message can be up to 1 MB. For anything longer, send it as a file.
- Both devices need to be online at the same time. Nothing is kept on a server, so there is no message history beyond what is on each screen.
- Direct transfers are end-to-end encrypted by the browser. Relayed ones are encrypted between each device and Cloudflare, but not end to end yet. See how it works.
Questions
How do I copy and paste from my phone to my computer?
Open toss2.me on both, tap the computer in the Nearby list on your phone, paste the text into the message box and send. On the computer, accept, then press Copy.
Does it work between iPhone and Windows, or Android and Mac?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser, so the two devices do not need to share an operating system or an account.
Is the text stored anywhere?
No. It goes device to device like a file. A receiving browser shows it until you close the tab; the command line inbox saves it as a .txt file on that computer.
Do I need an account?
No. There are no accounts. Each browser gets a random device name, kept in its local storage.
