Send files from your computer to your phone
Last checked
Most tools are built for getting photos off a phone. Going the other way, a PDF, a boarding pass, a song or an installer from a computer to a phone, is just as easy from a browser.
Steps
- On the computer, open toss2.me.
- On the phone, open toss2.me too, or press Create a code on the computer and scan the QR code with the phone's camera. The page opens already joined.
- On the computer, drag the files onto the page and drop them on the phone. With only one other device open, you can drop them anywhere on the page.
- On the phone, press Accept, then Save.
Where the files end up
- iPhone: Safari saves them to the Files app, in Downloads. PC to iPhone in detail.
- Android: the browser saves them to the Downloads folder. PC to Android in detail.
Just a link or some text?
Click the phone and type or paste into the message box. It arrives on the phone with a Copy button, with no need to email it to yourself. Sending text and links.
The other direction
The same page sends from the phone to the computer. See sending files from your phone to your computer.
Questions
Do I need to install an app?
No. Sending and receiving both work in a normal browser tab. The command line tool is optional and only needed if you want an always-on inbox on a computer.
Does it work from a Mac to an Android phone, or Windows to an iPhone?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser, so the computer and the phone do not need to share an operating system or an account.
Do both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi?
No. On the same network they find each other automatically. On different networks, for example a phone on mobile data and a laptop at home, one device creates a 6-digit code and the other types it in.
Are my files uploaded or stored anywhere?
No. Files go straight from one device to the other over WebRTC when the networks allow it. When they do not, the file passes through a relay on Cloudflare that forwards the bytes as they arrive and keeps nothing. If the receiver is offline, nothing is sent.
